History

The Canadian VIGOUR Centre (CVC) was established in 1997 as the Canadian arm of the international VIGOUR (Virtual Coordinating Centre for Global Collaborative Cardiovascular Research) Group. Since its inception, our centre has undertaken over 55 clinical trials in cardiovascular disease.

The CVC is recognized for its pioneering research in cardiovascular medicine, which embraces the translation of research through thought leadership and creative management of innovative clinical trials, as well as the new knowledge generated from registries and population outcome studies that inform the future.

The CVC is an Academic Research Organization (ARO) and an established centre of the University of Alberta within the Department of Medicine. The CVC garners support through research grants and contracts with industry and external peer-reviewed agencies.
